COURSE SUMMARY

The “Optimize Dental Teams with Dental Therapists Course “ will help you become more familiar with the Dental Therapist role, their responsibilities and education, and the benefits they bring to clinics that support optimizing dental teams.

By completing this course you will receive 3 Continuing Dental Education Credits.

Episode 1
1. To gain a deeper knowledge of Dental Therapy History
2. To summarize what the Scope of Practice is for a Dental Therapist
3. To sum up how Dental Therapists improve Operations and Health Outcomes

Episode 2
1. To summarize what education a Dental Therapist needs to practice in a clinic
2. Recognize what Certification / Licensure is needed to become a Dental Therapist
3. Define what a Practice Agreement is
4. Describe the different types of Supervision a Dental Therapist can have

Episode 3
5. To define Interdepartmental collaboration, and describe when it occurs
6. Describe the role that clinic members have in Community Outreach
7. Explain the different Team Roles
8. Explain billing in different situations
9. Outline what evaluation a Dental Therapist has.
10. Recall who to have a conversation about liability with and recall the risk involved.

1. Explain Minimally Invasive Dentistry (MID)
2. Describe Dental Fears
3. Discuss Aligning Treatment Philosophies
